Hello Weddings and Events

AFRICA MEETS AFRICA

A wedding against all odds:
Zera & Yana

Once upon a time when fairytale weddings felt like just that- a story that may only take place in our imaginations. This gorgeous couple kept planning, visualizing and rolling with the punches that the years of uncertainty Covid19 threw at their plans of a destination wedding.

The couple, located in the US, wanted their special day to take place in their family’s native land; Africa. They decided there was no better destination than Marrakesh to unite all their loved ones.

After a few rescheduled dates and even the arrival of a beautiful baby, we were beyond excited to help make their much-awaited dream a reality.

The Wedding Preparation

The inspiration for the wedding theme was the traditional, vibrant colours of Africa. Bright reds, greens and gold were woven into every detail down to the stunning stationery and rose gold Africa-shaped menus.

To kick off the celebrations, they welcomed their friends and family to a mystical pre-wedding event in the desert of Agafay. We pulled out all the stops with incredible performances which included flamethrowers drawing the couple’s initials in fire in the sky. They had their favourite DJ, who flew from overseas to lead the evening with incredible beats which got every man, woman and child dancing all night long.

Their unforgettable ceremony took place in the exterior spa area of the iconic Selman Hotel Marrakesh under the picturesque wedding arch, carefully decorated with plants and red roses to reflect their theme. Every single guest was dressed to the nines and beaming with anticipation.A perfect depiction of the magic felt throughout this ceremony. The bride took away every breath when she walked down the aisle in her stunning wedding dress and dazzling yet timeless beaded veil.

The after-party, also at the Selman Hotel, featured the bride in a jaw-dropping sequined multicoloured dress and the groom in an incredible golden tux. The Nigerian tradition of Money Spraying can be seen in the photos. This tradition symbolises a showering of happiness, good fortune and their guest’s affection which was clear from the laughter and smiles plastered all over each loved one’s face.

Rhythm, culture and celebration of Love were shown in every feature of this wedding and most memorably in the constant dancing and movement of the groom, bride and their treasured guest throughout the 3 days. This long-awaited union will go down in history,  not as a fairytale ending but a fairytale chapter in the ever colourful life this couple fought to create together.
